Are My Problems Too Small for Therapy?

If you’ve ever Googled ‘Do I really need therapy, or am I overreacting?’ — this is for you.

If you broke your leg, you wouldn’t think twice about going to the hospital. If you were in deep crisis, you probably wouldn’t think twice about reaching out for psychological support.

But what if things aren’t that bad? What if you’re just… stuck, or flat, or quietly unhappy? Should you still go to therapy if your problems feel “small”?

Growing up, many of us were told to be grateful, not complain.

“You get what you get and you don’t get upset.”
“Other people have it worse.”

And so we learned to tell ourselves:

“I shouldn’t want more. I should just be grateful for what I have.”

Especially if you’ve worked hard to get here. Especially if things look “fine” on the outside. Especially if you’re holding it together, coping.

But you know you’re not happy. You know you're drowning, or apathetic, or completely checked out. You feel stuck, disconnected, maybe even numb. You want more — more meaning, more joy, more alignment.

That’s not a small problem. That’s your reality. And that is exactly the time to start therapy.

Many people think that being in therapy is for when things are really bad. If you have deep trauma to work through, or you're in the depths of grief, or you're navigating a relationship breakdown. For times when life is so upside-down that you need help getting back to "normal".

But what if your normal is the problem? What if normal is stuck, unfulfilled, questioning everything?

You don’t have to be falling apart to go to therapy. You can choose therapy to create a new normal — one that actually feels good.

When I first got into my healthy, loving relationship — something that felt so unfamiliar to me — I sought out a therapist to help me navigate it. I didn’t want to sabotage it or get stuck in old patterns. The therapist even said, “I don’t usually have clients come to me who are in a good place.” But honestly? I think we should do that more often. Because that’s when therapy helps you grow even deeper into the life you’ve been working for.

Therapy can be proactive. Empowering. Support for making courageous choices (leaving a job, relationship, city — or finally listening to your heart).

Therapy isn’t a last resort; it’s strategic support.

If you’re nodding along right now, that self-awareness? That’s exactly what makes therapy powerful.

I know you’re good at coping. You keep going, because that’s who you are. But deep down, you might recognise these signs:

  • Wondering if you should leave (a job, a relationship, a situation)

  • Staying busy so you don’t have to sit with yourself

  • Quietly playing out the “what if I left?” scenario

  • Shaming yourself with “Who am I to want more?”

  • Running on autopilot — feeling disconnected from your body, your joy, your life

  • Always taking care of everyone else, leaving no space for you

Soul-Led Therapy isn’t about quick fixes. It's not identifying thoughts and practicing new ones. And it's not even setting a goal and working your way strategically towards it.

Soul-Led Therapy is deep self-connection. It's sitting in the space together and exploring your thoughts, your fears, your desires. And it's finding a path forward that builds self-trust and inner knowing.

It’s not about uprooting your life overnight, or “love and light” mantras, or forcing yourself to think positive. It’s about sitting together in that messy middle and gently finding your next true step.

Soul-Led Therapy meets you where you are — and helps you move toward who you want to become.
